Birthday card for Chris 2010

This card was made for Brian's cousin, Chris.  I don't get to make very many masculine cards so I am a little out of practice.  I wanted this one to look grunged up and tough.  I got the effect by using my Tim Holtz distress inks by Ranger and I used stamps that were by Tim Holtz as well.  I used a bit of chalk ink by Clear snap to stamp and embossing is done with versa mark ink and embossing powders by Stampendous in pearlustere sapphire.  the ribbon is from an unknown source and the pin is another Tim Holtz product. It was done on water color paper using a technique with water to blend the inks on the background. I hope you enjoy! tfsb, hugs amy k

vintage Hello card and mini album to England

This card was made for a lovely lady in England named Layne and her hubby.  They are a couple that Brian met online.  They play an online game with him.  I've spoken to her a couple of times and she's just the nicest person you could meet.  When she and I were talking and she asked about my interest, I told her scrapbooking, of course, and she said that she didn't know what that was.  She said they had card making where she was from but she had no idea what all went into the books. So I made her this mini album to show her.

It's just a basic board book that I used the Whimsy line by Making Memories on.  I also used a few Prima that i had layered to make them look like that and then glimmer misted them.  the paisley die cut is a cricut cut.  I used Bazzill card stock. I also included a little accordion fold album with some embellishments for her to give scrap booking a try. 

Little Sweet Heart congratulations card for Penelope's birth

I made this card to give to Brother and Mel as a congrats on the birth of their baby, Penelope.  I was happy to have the chance to use my Copic markers on a card for a change.  I think it turned out pretty good.  The paper is from the Berry sweet collection from K & co., the little sweet heart stamp and the bird are from Inkadinkado and the monkeys, clouds and  flowers are from Mindy's Zoo stamp set from Autumn Leaves.  I used various Copic markers to color the stamped images.  I don't have the numbers for the colors used right now but if anyone needs them feel free to message me and I will get that information for you. I also used Bazzill Bling card stock for the little green strip and I used my border punch from fiskars on it.  the ribbon and buttons are from unknown source.  I really hope you enjoy this card just as much as I enjoyed making it.  Thanks for stopping by. hugs. amy k

Tags for August tag swap.MPG

These are the tags that I made for the August tag swap hosted by Carlene, pinkscrapper99 on you tube. Thanks to Mom for agreeing to let me use her image for my tags. I think they turned out lovely. I did forget to mention in the video, that all the pics, after being printed on cardstock in black and white, were then covered with a couple layers of modge podge. Look who's finally here!.MPG

This is Penelope Ruth Milam. She was born on Aug. 9, 2010 to my brother, Derek, and his wife, Melissa Milam. I just wanted to show you guys our beautiful new additon to the family. She was born at 8:17 am, weighing 8lbs 12.9oz and 20 inches long. She's my niece and my God child. I cant wait till she's home and I can get to spoiling her. Tfw. Hope you enjoy.

A birthday card for Mel

I wanted this card to be simple elegance.  I made it for my wonderful sis in law, Melissa,  AKA Mel.  She's a sweet heart and we have all loved her dearly from day one. She and Brother were married last June and we all just couldn't have been happier; that was until Christmas and they announced that they were having a baby and wanted Brian and I to be God parents.  Oh, how happy we were then lol.  I'm just trying to say how much I love this girl.  She's awesome and funny and easy going.  Maybe I love her so much be cause she's so much like me, lol, or maybe its because I know she's good to and good for my Brother.  I think that she makes him happy and nothing could make me happier.  Mel is a feminine girl with out being a girlie girl.  She doesn't care much for too much frill or things that are just over the top.  She's always just going to be a tomboy at heart. lol.  So in making a birthday card for her I tired to tie the card into the idea of what I think that her personality is.  I wanted to create a card that would suit her to a tee.  I hope this card is it.  It suits her perfectly in my eye, but like I said "its an idea of her personality" that I am imagining.  In this card I see a lot of feminine with out all the frill.  Hope she likes it.   The construction of the card was simple.  I just took a 6x6 piece of Life's portrait paper from Webster's pages paper line and cut it to 6x5.  Then I used the Lacy labels Lite cartridge for the cricut and cut out the label.  You can't tell it really but it is in three layers.  I just used plain old Ga. pacific white and black paper for the cuts.  I then took my Tim Holtz distress ink in Old Paper and used it to change the color of the white to more match the Webster's pages.   I layered all the pieces together and used a stamp from Hot off the Press for the sentiment and some dark brown chalk ink from Color box.  Then I added a few of the tiny Prima flowers and a little bling to the centers and used some pop dots to attach it to the front.  Simple, elegance; or at least I hope. :) Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy it. 

Another Birthday card for August!!

Wow!! I sure have a lot of friends and family members with birthdays in August!!!  This one was made just for the coolest teen I know, Cassidy.  Cass, as we call her, or Kazz when she's extra spunky, she is my Best friend, Wendy's daughter.  I love Cassidy dearly, as I do all of the kids, but her being 15 years old this year makes her the most independent and the one that comes to stay the night with me.  When she comes over to stay the night we do a little scrappin' and she does a lot of tv watchin'.  She also helps me out with anything I've ever asked her to do.  She's old enough to understand a good bit about my disability and knows that even tho I might not "look" like there's anything wrong with me, that it doesn't mean there's not pain and stuff going on with me.  She's a good girl and I love having her come and spend time with me.  She's crazy smart and can figure things out really fast.  She's learned a lot about scrap booking from just the few things that she and I have worked on together.  I have a lot I would like to teach her yet and luckily she hasn't lost interest in it yet;)  She still likes it and thinks it's pretty fun to do.  I love to share my knowledge with her and at the rate that she's learning it, she will be much better at it than me one day soon:)  We especially like to make cards and mini's right now.  Maybe we can work on an 12x12 album when she goes to prom or something.  I'll let her decide..  She's smart and knows what she likes.:)

To make this card I used  the DCWV, punk, stack for the paper.  The file card was cut with the cricut wth the Graphically speaking cartridge.  For the back ground of the sentiment piece I used tumbled glass, victorian velvet, and shabby shutter distress inks by Tim Holtz.  They seamed to most closely match the background paper.  I used a Happy Birthday stamp by Rubber stampede by Delta.  I also used a mini marks rub on by American Crafts for the You Rock.  The black flower is by bazzill basics and the little pink flower is a cricut cut from the sweet treats cartridge, the bling brad in the center is by Heidi Swap.  I think that about covers it.  Hope you enjoy!!! hugs. amy k

A Best Friend Birthday Card

I made this card for, you guessed it, my best friend, Wendy Brown.  I wanted to come up with a card that had lots of texture on it.  I started off with the brown paper that is very textured by a company called Canson.  It's something I found at my local Micheals a while back.   I think its especially made for card making, but I don't know. lol.  I then used my sizzix texture boutique and a cuttle bug texture plate in  textile to emboss white card stock that I ripped down the right hand side and sprayed with peach delight glimmer mist and then rubbed the top of the texture with walnut stain distress ink from Tim Holtz.  I made the flower out of book pages that was cut out of the tattered florals die from sizzix and Tim Holtz and covered with the gold shimmer modge podge and layered together and an antique button, one of my very favorites in fact, was used for the center.  I used green hand made paper for the back ground on the right hand side and the brown strip at the bottom is a border sticker from Anna Griffin's Flora collection.  The sentiment is a stamp set from inkadinkado and it is heat embossed with Zing metallic finish embossing powder in copper.  I also used it along the sides of the sentiment piece.  I'm really happy with the way this card turned out and I was so happy to put the work into it, like I am with all the cards I do now days.    Im not making cards to sell anymore and so I only make them for the people I love now.  Im happier that way;)  It brings me joy to know that the people I give them to actually have come to look forward to getting on of my cards on their birthdays, anniversaries, or other special occasions.  I love to hear how much they look forward to them coming in the mail, even tho they are mostly late getting to them, and how they enjoy them and never throw them away.  I would never be mad at anyone of them for throwing one of my cards away.  I know how those kinds of things can accumulate.  Wendy does have special instructions, however,  to give that button back to me should she ever decide to discard of that card. lol  Hope you enjoy!!
