Welcome to Cards by Amy K.

I am SO GLAD you stopped by to check out my blog!!! Here I will be posting my current projects for you to see. PLEASE feel free to leave me a comment. I would LOVE to hear what you think about what I'm working on. I have been a scrapbooker/paper crafter since I first caught wind of this wonderful hobby in 2006. I am lucky enough to get to spend my days doing something I love so much and which brings so much joy into my life. I first started scrapbooking as a way to pass the time as I found myself at home alone all day suddenly, now I can't imagine life without it. Too bad I don't get paid for it, then I really would have it all!!!

"Forever" Anniversary Card

Judy and Frank Owens are two very special people to me.  Judy is my mother in law and we were all happy when she and Frank decided to get married in 2006 and add Frank to our very loving family.  Frank fits right in.  He brings alot of love and understanding to the family and Judy, well she's just beautiful inside and out.  She's very good to me and they love me and that goes along way.  They treat me like they love me.  I have other family members of my own who don't even do that, go figure.  So I always try and remember their anniversary and send them a card.  This is the one that I sent this year.
I made this card using an older paper stack from K & Co, (I'm working on using up the paper that I have instead of constantly buying more and never using it even half way up).  I think this was the wedding stack.  The rosette flower is a die cut from sizzix for Tim Holtz.  I added a glittered flower to the center from the collection along with the three little flowers at the top.  The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts and I used some distress ink from Ranger to distress it a bit.  The dollie is a die cut from Cheery Lynn designs and I cut it from a piece of the the paper collection, this is a wonderful die by the way.   It's very intricut.  Then I stamped the Forevever boarder across the bottom and I don't have the information on that stamp any longer, sorry.  Well, that's all for this card, thank you for stopping by to have a look.  Dont forget to "Like" or leave a comment. They mean so much to me.  Till next time; God bless.

Thank you Tag

I made this tag back in April or May as a thank you to my Mom for the time she spent helping me out after my sugery.  It was simple to make and I got to use my new distress stains and then I wrote her a thank you note on the back.  the script paper is from Hobby Lobby, the stamps are from Hot off the press and I used my Prisma color pencils and copic markers to color in the stamped images, the white felt rolled flower is a Sizzix die and the pink rolled flower is made with Bazzill card stock and cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge for the cricut. the top note and oval shape are a punch from McGill. for the pink on the top note shape and the lacy martha stewart punch are colored with the spun sugar distress stain from ranger.  I added lots of colorful fibers to the top.  I also wanted to mention that I used the cricut to cut out the tag shape from thin chipboard and then again from the paper and then adhered them together.  Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my project. Feel free to leave me a comment. Hugs, amy K

Get Well card for Brother

About a month back my Brother, Derek, had to have surgery on his sinus's.  It was clearly a painful experience and I felt so bad for him that I wanted to do something for him.  Making him a card probably didn't make the pain go away but hopefully it brightened his day for a moment anyway.;)
Making this card was simple.  I used an older paper line, but one I still love, called Lime Ricky from Basic Grey.  The paper collection came with a sticker sheet and I used that for most of the elements on this card.  I've tried and tried to remember what I used for the sentiment but this old brain has had it and for the life of me I just cant remember.  I'm sure it's letter stickers from somewhere. lol. Then, to finish it off I tied a length of seam binding around the top.  Simple yet cute.

For the inside I used a piece of paper from the collection and a sentiment stamp from Hero Arts.  I then took some red, yellow and blue glimmer mist and instead of spraying it onto the card, I took the sprayer out of the bottle and used what glimmer mist was on it and flicked it onto the paper.  It added a pop of color that was something that I was still able to write over to sign the card.   Well, that's all I've got for now.  I'll be back with another post either later today or in the morning.  Hope you all are having a great day and staying cool in this heat. Hugs, Amy K.
