Welcome to Cards by Amy K.

I am SO GLAD you stopped by to check out my blog!!! Here I will be posting my current projects for you to see. PLEASE feel free to leave me a comment. I would LOVE to hear what you think about what I'm working on. I have been a scrapbooker/paper crafter since I first caught wind of this wonderful hobby in 2006. I am lucky enough to get to spend my days doing something I love so much and which brings so much joy into my life. I first started scrapbooking as a way to pass the time as I found myself at home alone all day suddenly, now I can't imagine life without it. Too bad I don't get paid for it, then I really would have it all!!!

Valentine card 2 start to finish video

This is the second card that I made for my Valentines day card series. I'm also including a video with all the information that you will need if you would like to recreate a card like this..  To run the canvas fabric thru the cricut mini machine I had to spray it first with a stiffener called "Stiffen Stuff" by Beacon.  I picked it up at my local Hobby Lobby. I first sprayed it on the canvas then used the heat tool to dry it most of the way then I used my craft iron to finish drying it and to get out any wrinkles.  It cut beautifully  thru the mini machine.  I think the rest of any information that you may need will be covered in the video.  So here it is, enjoy!

Valentines Day card start to finish card 1

I made this card as the first of 4 cards I made in honor of Valentine's Day this year. I've attached a video to go along with this post to show you how it all came together. I think I also explain the products I used to make this card in the video. so without further ado, here's the video.  Hope you enjoy!

Birthday Card made for cousin, masculine

I made this masculine birthday card for my cousin, Ben.  I used the patterned kraft cardstock from a paper pack from Recollections that I got at Micheal's. I just layered on and 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" piece of Georgia Pacific white card stock.  The tag was a digital image that I got off the internet.  The flower is from Prima, and the sentiment stamp is from Hot off the Press stamped with versa mark ink in black and cut out using a label die from Sizzix.  The blue coloring on the sentiment is done with broken china distress stain.  That's all for this card.  Simple yet nice for a young man.  I still find myself struggling with masculine cards and then I just remind myself that simpler is better for men.  I think women are mainly the ones that like cards with a whole bunch of layers and elements all over the card.  That is with the exception of a few men.;)  I really like the way the distress stain looks on this card.  All I had to do to get that look is just swipe it randomly across the die cut.  I didn't want the whole thing to be blue, I wanted some of the background paper to show thru. Distress stains are translucent so you don't have to worry about covering up your stamping when you use them. cool eh?  I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Its the last one of 2012.  I will be starting to post the cards from 2013 tomorrow and I will have some Valentines cards and some videos to go with them coming soon so stay tuned! tfsb, hugs, amyk
