Welcome to Cards by Amy K.

I am SO GLAD you stopped by to check out my blog!!! Here I will be posting my current projects for you to see. PLEASE feel free to leave me a comment. I would LOVE to hear what you think about what I'm working on. I have been a scrapbooker/paper crafter since I first caught wind of this wonderful hobby in 2006. I am lucky enough to get to spend my days doing something I love so much and which brings so much joy into my life. I first started scrapbooking as a way to pass the time as I found myself at home alone all day suddenly, now I can't imagine life without it. Too bad I don't get paid for it, then I really would have it all!!!

Get well card for Wendy

My friend, Wendy, is recovering from surgery she had on Monday. I wanted to make her a card to let her know that I was thinking of her and wishing her a speedy recovery. Wendy is currently learning about scrap booking and paper crafting in general and is also my best friend. So that just rocks for me! To have my best friend have an interest in and want to participate in the same hobby as me! Woo hoo!! I love it. So I can't ever pass on the opportunity to make her something crafty. Hope you enjoy it, Wendy and I love you girl. Get to feeling better soon.
Im also entering this card into a challenge hosted by Sandy over at Sandy's Space.  She's got some  wonderful g.c.d. studio goodies up for grabs.  I'm entering on the home girl frame and the insperation is the paper line, homespun chic.  So go over to Sandy's blog and check out the challenge. http://angsandy.blogspot.com/2010/11/sandys-challenge-1.html
Now for the details... I used the Melody Ross Homespun Chic, paper pad from g.c.d. studios for the background. I used the dress form stamp from the girl's paperie's paper girl stamp set. The flowers are from Recollections; the Boutique Fleur. I get them at Michael's. The sentiment stamp is from Close to my Heart. Its from the Say it in style stamp set. I used chalk ink from Clearsnap in Charcoal for both stamps and the bookplate label is a Cricut cut from the Fabulous Finds cartridge. I added some crystals for a touch of bling and that's it for this card. Hope you enjoyed it! thanks for stopping by.

Sweetie layout

Here's a layout for you today.  I haven't gotten around to doing much of my own scrapbooking this year.  I've made some mini's for gifts, and I've done alot of cards but I've just not gotten to do alot of scrapbooking for myself and so I was happy to get this one done last night.  This is my Niece, Penelope Ruth, just minutes after she was born.  Isn't she beautiful?   We are all so excited about having another baby in the family finally.  We love her so.
So, to make this layout, I used a piece of patterned paper that my wonderful friend, Robin, sent to me in a RAK.  She say's its from a DCWV stack.  I just loved the paper. I used flowers by prima and recolections, and the clock  and the bird is a stamp from the grils paperie, the paper girl stamp set, and ink by momento.  The journaling stamp is from Autumn leaves, ink from clearsnap. The alpha stickers are from ek sucess and the ribbon is Martha Stewart.
OK, that's about it for this post. Thanks for stoping by and I hope you enjoyed the layout.

Birthday card for uncle Tim 2010

Another Birthday card for ya.  This one is for my uncle, Tim.  I hope he enjoys it.  I tried to capture his down home style in this card.  Tim's just what we call a good 'ole country boy.   I love him to death.  He's just one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. This card was late, like all of them have been this year. lol.
I made this card using Tim Holtz' lost and found paper collection for the calendar page and the back ground was GA pacific white card stock that I colored with my Tim holtz distress inks in aged mahogany, chipped sapphire and wild honey.  I used some various stamps on the background from 7 gypsies and making memories in dark brown chalk ink from clear snap.  I used the time pieces clock face from Tim Holtz and the sentiment stamp is from inkadinkado and is stamped in blue dye ink from clearsnap.   I used the cricut to cut out the shape of the sentiment from the sentimentals cartridge.  Just added some ribbons for trim and that was all.  I hope you enjoy this little card. thanks for stopping by.  Hugs., Amy k

Birthday card for Naomi - 2010

I made this card for my dear aunt, Naomi.  She's such a sweet and beautiful lady and I wanted her card to reflect that.  I thought that this stamp set from Hot off the press with the tea pot was so perfect for her.  The stamp set is called Fancy a Cuppa and they are just so cute.  It not only includes tea but coffee cups and beans and a spoon and also a clock face.  Too cute.  I love them.  I also used the Life's Journey paper line from K & co.  I made the frame die cut and swirls with the Cindy Loo cartridge for the cricut. The die cut the sentiment is stamped on is also from cricut off the Sweethearts cart.  I used Close to my Heart stamps for the sentiment with chalk ink in warm red from clearsnap.  I colored the stamped tea pot with my Copic markers, distressed the edges a bit and used some vintage lace.  The red ribbon is from Martha Stewart.  Just a little bling on the tips of the swirls and I was done.  Hope you enjoy this little card.

Vintage Birthday card for Dad, AKA- Pops

This is the card I came up with for my Dad's birthday this year.  I love the way it turned out.  I know that some people have a plan when they start out to create something like a card or a layout, but not me.  I usually start a project with a product that I want to use and I just build on it.  I have no idea what the finished product will look like when I begin so when it's finished its as much of a surprise to me how it looks as it is to anyone. lol. I am really happy with this card.  I just love the way it looks.  I started out with a card shape from the Sentimental cricut cartridge.  I cut it out then I used one of the vintage bags that my friend, Robin sent to me for the background layer.  I just put it into the cricut as well and cut the card shape out again and then cut it in two.  I put the front layer on the card base then I used some heavy fabric for the next layer.  I frayed the edges by pulling the strings till it looked the way I liked. The sentiment is a Close to my heart stamp and heat embossed with gold embossing powder, the shape is a cricut cut from the Home Accents cart.  I used some ribbon and some lace from my stash and the clock face and spinner is from Tim Holtz.  Finally, I used the little flowers that I've been making,  Two mini rosettes in black and the red one that has been glimmer misted in candy apple red and the leaves are a Martha Stewart punch.  That's all for the card.
This is the envelope front for that card.  I use a lot of the Tim Holtz stamps from the Life's Possibilities set from Stampers Anonymous.  I used chalk ink from Clear snap in dark brown and and warm red and the ruler is a photocopy of a vintage paper ruler I had.  I also used distress inks in various colors for the background.  That's about it I think,  I sure hope you enjoy this card.  I am just venturing into the world of shabby chic design and I am really loving it.  I made clean and cute cards for so long that sometimes its a challenge to just be messy and go with the flow but I am really loving the results.  I hope it inspires you too.  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card.=> Have a great day!!!
